Barça to Host First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside as per the current authorization. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
